Ramadan: Zakat-ul-Fitr
Donate what you can
Donate what you can
Before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer, every adult Muslim who has access to food beyond his own needs is obliged to pay what we call Zakat-ul-Fitr. The breadwinner may also pay Zakat-ul-Fitr on behalf of relatives or children under his responsibility. Zakat-ul-Fitr is paid during Ramadan but before the last Eid al-Fitr prayer.
The translation of Zakat Al-Fitr may explain the meaning of Fitrana. The translation of Zakat Al-Fitr is to donate to a charity. The purpose of the ritual is to help those who are less fortunate than us by showing empathy and compassion. By doing this, you demonstrate how grateful you are to Allah (SWT) and that you appreciate all the blessings of Allah (SWT).
By paying Zakat-ul-Fitr, you ensure that more people can enjoy the day under Eid, including the poor and needy. The recipients of Zakat-ul-Fitr are generally the same people who are entitled to receive Zakat. Imdad Relief Foundation works as a charity agency on your behalf.
