Norwegian roots, local action
Imdad Relief began in Oslo in 2009, when solidarity with people in need became practical help. Today we bring together donors, expertise and local efforts for emergency relief and opportunities that last.
Humanitarian work since 2009

Commitment with structure
Imdad means help and support. We are a Norwegian nonprofit humanitarian organisation. From early volunteer initiatives, we have built an organisation with expertise, clear roles and local roots. We combine emergency relief with long-term work for safer lives.
- 01
A board guided by expertise
The board is responsible for direction, priorities and sound stewardship. Professional assessments inform decisions.
- 02
Coordinated operations
Management and staff follow plans, budgets and implementation. Volunteers contribute time, experience and expertise.
- 03
Local implementation
Teams and partners know conditions on the ground. Together we adapt assistance and follow up the work.
The will to do more
Our story is about turning solidarity into help that reaches people. Since 2009, experiences with people, places and crises have shaped our work.
- 2009
From solidarity to practical help
Concern for Gaza brought people together in Oslo. An early shipment of new clothes and assistive equipment reached refugees in Lebanon through local cooperation.
- 2010
A turning point in Pakistan
The 2010 floods strengthened the effort. Experience in fundraising, purchasing and logistics laid the foundation for more sustained and organised relief.
- 2017
Close to displaced families
Support for Rohingya families in Bangladesh began with emergency relief in 2017. Later work included water, shelter and learning opportunities.
- Today
Help that builds on experience
We combine relief with water projects, education and stronger livelihoods. Needs and local implementation possibilities shape the effort.
Faith that inspires, help that includes
Our Muslim roots inspire us to do good. Help is given according to need, regardless of faith, gender, age or background. These values guide how we work.
- 01
Amanah: trust that brings responsibility
Your gift is a responsibility. The Qur’an’s reminder to honour what is entrusted to us inspires openness, careful stewardship and follow-up.
Qur’an 4:58 - 02
Adl and ihsan: justice and care
The call to justice and kindness inspires us to put human dignity first. We help according to need and respect each person’s circumstances.
Qur’an 16:90 - 03
Ta’awun: working together for good
The call to cooperate in goodness inspires us to bring together donors, volunteers, professionals and local communities, turning commitment into practical help.
Qur’an 5:2
From need to action
Food, water, healthcare and shelter can be vital in a crisis. Education and stronger livelihoods build future opportunities. We follow the effort from need to implementation.
- 01
Understand the need
We listen to affected people and local teams: what is urgent, and who needs help most?
- 02
Plan the response
We agree measures, responsibilities, budgets and logistics according to local conditions and available resources.
- 03
Deliver the help
Staff and partners carry out the work with respect for those receiving assistance.
- 04
Follow up and learn
We track how funds are used. Documentation and experience inform reporting and improvement.
Your gift is a trust
All funds are managed to fulfil our humanitarian purpose. Each gift is an amanah: a trust we must steward with openness, care and responsibility.
Safe assistance needs planning, competent staff and follow-up. We seek reasonable costs, reduce risks through controls and show how funds are used.
What does safe, effective relief require?
Beyond distribution, the work includes local purchasing, transport, follow-up and documentation. Necessary operating costs include accounting, auditing, secure payment systems and staff. This helps assistance reach people safely and with dignity.
