ACCOUNTABILITY

Trust should be verifiable

Humanitarian work depends on trust. We believe that trust should be supported by clear information, responsible controls and a willingness to be held accountable.

Our commitment

Imdad Relief is committed to responsible stewardship of the funds entrusted to us and to delivering humanitarian assistance with dignity, integrity and respect.

  • Humanitarian need
  • Responsible use of funds
  • Documentation and traceability
  • Accountability
  • Dignity and impartiality
  • Continuous improvement

How we protect humanitarian funds

Controls may include separation of duties, approval controls, documented procurement, invoices and receipts, supplier and partner verification, project reconciliations, field documentation, accounting controls, external audit where applicable and risk-based due diligence.

The level of control and verification is adapted to the nature, value, location and risk of each activity. Controls are therefore not necessarily applied in exactly the same way in every country or project.

Fraud and corruption

Imdad Relief has zero tolerance for fraud, corruption, bribery, theft, embezzlement and deliberate misuse of humanitarian resources.

Zero tolerance means that credible concerns are taken seriously, assessed, investigated where necessary and followed up. Possible responses may include suspended payments, termination of a relationship, recovery of funds, disciplinary measures or reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate or required.

Conflicts of interest

Actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest should be disclosed and appropriately managed. A person with a relevant interest should not control the decision alone.

Partners, suppliers and representatives

We expect integrity from employees, volunteers, board members, consultants, suppliers, contractors, implementing partners and authorised representatives. Due diligence should be risk-based and proportionate to the relationship and activity.

Field transparency

Conflict, displacement, border restrictions, insecurity, market disruption, supply shortages, infrastructure failure and rapidly changing needs can affect delivery. Timing, location or method may therefore change without necessarily changing the humanitarian purpose.

Evidence with dignity

Photography and video can support accountability, but documentation must never come at the expense of the dignity, safety or privacy of the people we serve.

We seek to document humanitarian activities appropriately through financial records, field reports and implementation evidence.

Authorised fundraising

All fundraising in Imdad’s name must be authorised. Official payment channels are those displayed on imdad.no.
