Burkina Faso

Getting clean water, enough food and schooling is a daily challenge for many families in Burkina Faso. Conflict and displacement disrupt livelihoods, while an unpredictable climate makes growing food more difficult.

Imdad contributes food support and water systems, connecting tree planting and planned vocational training with local agriculture. The aim is aid that meets today’s needs and creates opportunities for the future.

The need and our response

01The need

Water and learning provide a foundation to build on

Conflict, displacement and climate pressures make it harder to obtain food, keep children in education and ensure clean water. UNICEF describes extensive needs among both displaced families and their host communities. Immediate support and long-term solutions must therefore be considered together.

02Our response

From water systems to practical learning

An artesian well in Nanoro was completed on 8 February 2026. The school was then under construction. The aim is to connect teaching with practical agriculture so students can learn by working in the gardens.

A solar-powered water system is in place in Godo, and tree planting has begun. Further water infrastructure and fruit trees will be developed in stages. Imdad has also shared updates on food support for internally displaced families in 2026.

03Your support

Help something lasting take root

Your support can contribute food during a difficult period and the next steps in water, cultivation and learning. Through the tree appeal, you can give a fruit tree for NOK 200. A separate well is planned in dialogue with us, so the solution and follow-up suit local conditions.
